Glider Club Update

Glider Club Update

The Associated Glider Clubs of Southern California (AGCSC), in existence since 1930, has a long tradition of excellent flight training, inexpensive winch launching and air-tows, recreational flying and social activities. Our modern fleet of four sailplanes: a brand new SZD 54-2 Perkoz, a Puchacz SZD 50-2, a SZD Junior and a fully restored Schweizer 2-33, allows us maximum flexibility and ready availability. A state of the art winch from Roman's Design provides low cost launches and inexpensive flights for our members. A new five thousand foot hangar being built will feature facilities for storage, bathroom and other amenities, including a class room and an office. This is a joint project of Roman's design and AGCSC.
Our Club operates at Jacumba Airport (a County Airport east of San Diego) every weekend. However, there are some exceptions, such as inclement weather or "Soarfaris" which means that we are temporarily flying at other Southwestern soaring sites. Please consult the home page  for the latest operational dates, times and venues.
This past June AGCSC and Roman's Design participated in a very successful demonstration of a winch launch of our new Perkoz at the "Wings over Gillespie" Air Show, which demonstrated the beauty and grace of a silent sailplane flight at a major regional air show. The ten minute flight of our Perkoz executing various tight maneuvers over "show center"

(also captured on video) was a rare and "green" highlight of the air show, normally featuring only powered aircraft.

We invite anyone to contact us through this website or by calling us at the following number: 619-286-3855 (please ask for Rolf Schulze). We will be happy to answer any questions you may have about our sport and about flying in general.
